Californian Black Widow

6″ x 12″

Oil on Wood

Shortly after moving to a house in Oceanside, California, I picked up an tiki-hut off of Craigslist. I was going to turn it into an art studio, but in the rebuilding process I realized that there were hundreds of spiders living in the structure. I painted this painting, and made a little video about the story of black widows in southern California and their invasive counterpart, the brown widow.
